My name is Midnight, or you can call me “Knight” for short!! I am a BIG, growing puppy with HUGE paws and the bounding energy of “Tigger”! I LOVE everyone and everything and I just want to see what’s out there in this big, exciting world.
My foster mom calls me “Galloping Galupy” because I never walk anywhere – I go 100 miles an hour all the time because there are so many places and people and things to see and do and go!! I need an experienced owner who can calmly and firmly work on my over-exuberance and channel it in the right direction so I can become the excellent companion doggy I want to be for my new home and owner. Someone who is willing to spend the time doing really good obedience training with firm, positive reinforcement before I grow to my adult potential size.
I’m already 70 lbs. at 7 months, so I’m gonna be a BIG ‘UN!! Because of that, I would not do well in a home with small children, even though I like kids – I’m just ALL paws and legs right now…..and they go ALL over the place ‘cause I’m such a puppy.
I’m EXCELLENT in my crate, play well with all other dogs and am exceedingly handsome and strong (if I do say so myself!!). If you think you can handle my Tigger-like bounciness, come over and play with me – think you can wear me out?? I’ll bet you can’t!! .
Midnight is a purebred Shepherd, AKC registered. He is a BIG, overgrown, galloping, bouncy puppy who NEVER just walks, only leaps & bounds everywhere he goes! He will REQUIRE gentle but firm positive reinforcement training for him to be the best companion dog he is capable of being. He needs LOTS of room to play & exercise to burn up some of his endless puppy energy! He can be quiet & behaved in his crate as long as there are not a lot of distractions to get him excited about what is going on around him like other loose dogs for example. His previous owners got him as a Christmas present, took good care of him, but found out that the wife (supposedly) was allergic to him. He was good in the home with a 5 yr. old child, but was dominant over the 2 yr. old. Because of this & his size & exuberance, we feel its best if he is in a home with children no younger than 10 after all, it seems he IS getting bigger by the minute!! He has never shown any aggression, either in his previous home or here, with other dogs or people. He is quite mischievous as he likes to grab any crock-type dog bowls (2 at a time!), stuffed animals, towels, or even my sweatpants & take them outside to play with! I have not caught him chewing the wrong things because we keep an overabundance of Kong toys & large nylabones available at all times. I think of him as a BIG BLACK FREIGHT TRAIN when he comes barreling down my hallway or up & down the steps. He comes when called unless he is busy playing (selective hearing!), knows sit & loves vanilla yogurt for a treat & will sit up & beg for it! |
